Matariki & Inquiry Celebration
We had a fantastic celebration today - sharing our learning with parents, friends and other children in the school. It was great to get really honest feedback about the quality of work and presentation skills. We shared our Maths inquiry projects, Matariki inquiry creation/action ideas, our plays and other learning we have enjoyed this term.
Otumatua, it was wonderful to see such a variety of interests demonstrated in your inquiry projects. From art lessons, to invented legends, construction, house design, Scratch and robotics projects, tiling ideas, discussions of role models, baking, budgeting, nutritional information, weaving, origami, languages, mythology... the list goes on!! Ka mau te wehi!

Hockey A Recount
On Friday the hockey A team versed Beckenham.I got player of the day for my defence. In the first 10 minutes the team was beginning to warm up the next three quarters were was working really well together, I personally think that it was our best game yet. Despite a slight bias from the ref towards the other team we still managed to beat Beckenham 4-0.

Hockey B Recount
Hockey game
It was a slippery game for the halswell hockey B team on Friday. We played against Beckenham Black and managed to slip the ball across the muddy field and into their goal 15 times and they only scored one point. It went well for us because Matthew was a great captain, everyone played hard and supported Travis who scored an amazing 10 goals for the team. The other goals (correct me team if I'm wrong) were scored by Blake (2) and Mihiroa (2) and one by me
(for the first time- which is why I proudly got player of the day). Everyone played a full game and kept the pace up as there were no subs for the whole match. We ended the game happy and muddy. What a great start to the long weekend.
